Ashley Young: Manchester United win against Sunderland fully deserved

by Ben Topliss

Ashley Young believes Manchester United fully deserved their 2-0 victory over Sunderland on Saturday and that they were unlucky not to score more goals.

Man United produced a laboured performance during the game, with chances few and far between as the two sides went in at half time goalless.

Wayne Rooney eventually opened the scoring with a penalty before sealing the three points with a second five minutes from time.

Young believes United were good value for their win and that they should have gone in at the break in front.

Speaking about the game, Young said: ”We were unfortunate not to go in a goal up at half-time. We got the chance when Wayne scored the penalty and never looked back.”

“Everybody worked hard and in the end we got our just rewards.”

Young was a standout performer in the game, with his pace and ability to beat a man causing numerous problems for the Sunderland defence.

It is encouraging to see Young pick up where he left off after an injury stunted his progress earlier this year. With Angel di Maria and Radamel Falcao struggling, Young has emerged as one of United’s most dangerous players.
