Manchester United vs Sunderland: Predicted XI – Falcao and Rooney to start up front

by Ben Topliss

David de Gea – Barring injury, there is no way that Victor Valdes will be lining up in Manchester United’s first-team anytime soon.

Antonio ValenciaPaddy McNair has impressed at right-back in recent months but Louis van Gaal will not want to place too much pressure on him early on in his career.

Phil Jones – The Englishman is back to full fitness and will be looking to continue his blossoming partnership with Marcos Rojo.

Marcos Rojo – One of the first names on the team sheet in recent weeks, Rojo is fast becoming indispensable at United.

Luke Shaw – Although Ashley Young is back from injury, United will need Shaw’s defensive prowess.

Daley Blind – With Carrick still working his way back to full fitness, Blind will continue in the holding midfield role.

Ander Herrera – The Spaniard is finally getting a run in the team and will be looking to build on goals against Swansea City and Preston North End.

Angel di Maria – Not having the best of times of late but it would be highly unwise not to include his pace against Sunderland.

Juan Mata – United should control the game at Old Trafford, which is exactly when Mata thrives.

Wayne Rooney – He just cannot play in midfield!

Radamel Falcao – Big opportunity for him with Robin van Persie ruled out through injury. It remains to be seen whether or not he will take it.
