Paris St Germain’s Marquinhos confirms Man United approach

Paris St Germain defender Marquinhos has confirmed Manchester United made an approach to sign him in January.

The Brazilian was heavily linked with a move to Man United in January with Louis van Gaal on the lookout for a new centre-back.

However, Marquinhos explained that PSG rebuffed Man United’s approaches but said he knew van Gaal was keen to bring him to Old Trafford.

“PSG refused, but it is nice to know they are keen,” Marquinhos told L’Equipe.

Despite the advances, Marquinhos insisted he was still happy to be at PSG: “I am happy to be here, at a great club with huge ambitions & always looking to progress.”

In an exclusive interview with the Daily Mail’s Ian Ladyman last month to ask him about him about some insight, Ian highlighted Marquinhos as a player who Man United are very keenly interested in and quotes from Marquinhos support that suggestion.

Until the summer transfer window is open, there will be continued speculation but as always, we’ll cover it all and bring you the latest news every day.
