Paul Scholes: Results are most important thing for Manchester United

Paul Scholes believes Manchester United’s ailing performances don’t matter as long as the team gets results.

Louis van Gaal’s side have been poor in recent weeks and were lucky to scrape past Newcastle United 1-0 thanks to Ashley Young’s late winner on Wednesday.

With Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool all improving in the race to finish in the top four of the Premier League some fans have become concerned over United’s chances.

However, United legend Scholes won’t be getting worried as long as the team is getting positive results.

Speaking about United’s displays, Scholes said: “The result is the only thing matters. We can talk about the performances but they have two losses in 22 games.”

Van Gaal has certainly moulded a team which is incredibly tough to beat, which is encouraging as United head into a tough run of fixtures in March and April.

Fans can also take heart from the fact that United also have a good record against the top teams this season. United have beaten Liverpool, Arsenal and Southampton and drew against Chelsea at home. They will need to be on top form again as they prepare to face Arsenal in the FA Cup quarter-finals on Monday.
