Former Manchester United defender Fabio Da Silva took to Twitter on Sunday afternoon to show he hasn’t forgotten his days at Old Trafford.
After several loan spells away, Fabio never really found a place in the squad under David Moyes and a red card minutes after coming on in an FA Cup against Swansea last January sealed his fate.
One half of the Da Silva pairing soon departed for struggling Cardiff and Fabio failed to help another former red, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, keep Cardiff in the Premier League.
But Fabio posted a picture on his Instagram on Sunday reminiscing about the time he started in midfield alongside brother Rafael, with Fabio scoring the opener which happened to be his first ever goal for the club.
The game, which took place in 2011, was an odd one. Sir Alex Ferguson lined his side up with seven defenders with Rafael and Fabio playing on the wings with John O’Shea in midfield.
But the plan worked, United ran out 2-0 winners with Fabio scoring the opener after claiming his first club goal just a few months earlier against Wigan. Funnily enough, Rafael’s first two goals for the club also came against Wigan and Arsenal but in reverse order.
Fabio did appear to have a bright future after starting the Champions League final the same season but it never quite happened for him and it would appear this summer the other Da Silva twin will leave the club, ending the relationship the two have had with the club since 2007.
