Manchester United and Louis van Gaal‘s search for young stars around the world is continuing with the club set to bring Costa Rican youngster Luis Jose Hernandez to Old Trafford.
Hernandez captains the U17s international side, plays for the top team in the country Deportivo Saprissa and is set to join United according to the player’s coach.
The left back is familiar with United having spent a few weeks on trial during David Moyes’ time in charge along with team mates Julian Chicco and Douglas Garcia, and coach Randall Chacon believes he is bound for Manchester.
“The information we have is that this boy, Hernandez, Costa Rica under 17 selection will be signed by Manchester United,” said the coach.
The story comes from a Costa Rica news outlet so it would appear the report has legs and that United are set to bring their latest player in from across the pond.
Van Gaal has given a certain commitment to youth this season despite letting the likes of Tom Cleverley and Danny Welbeck leave the club but United have taken a number of young players on trial this season.
On Friday, Hernandez was in action for the U17 side where he assisted two goals from his left-back position in a performance that would have surely been noted by scouts inside Old Trafford.
