Ashley Young: I’m fit to play Tottenham Hotspur

Ashley Young has confirmed he will be available for Manchester United’s game against Tottenham Hotspur.

The winger was a doubt for the game having suffered a knock in Man United’s 2-1 loss to Arsenal last Monday but has overcome the problem in time for tomorrow.

It’s a much needed injury boost for United because with Angel di Maria banned for the game, Louis van Gaal would have been left with a distinct lack of natural wide players going into the game.

“I got a little knock in a tackle in the first half against Arsenal,” Young told

“I should be okay. They are fiery games against Arsenal and there were a few tackles flying about but you just dust yourself down and get prepared for the next game.”

There have been plenty of surprises under van Gaal this season, some good and some bad, but the renaissance of Young is certainly one of the better things to have happened to United this year.

Nobody batted an eyelid last year if he was nowhere near the first-team but he has since become a very important member of van Gaal’s side and with the critical run-in about to begin against Tottenham on Sunday, United need in-form players like Young to stay fit.
