Marouane Fellaini named in Gazzetta’s European Team of the Week

Marouane Fellaini has been named in Gazzetta Dello Sport’s European Team of the Week for his exploits against Tottenham Hotspur.

In a performance which was arguably his best in a Manchester United shirt, the Belgian midfielder opened the scoring with a cultured left-footed finish having been put clean through by Michael Carrick.

Before the 30 minute mark, Fellaini had repaid the favour because his nod down led to Carrick’s headed goal and United’s second. Wayne Rooney‘s third sealed the game before the half-time whistle and United took their foot off the gas in the second to comfortably see out a 3-0 win.

Fellaini was instrumental in that win. He has transformed himself from a player nobody wanted to see anywhere near the team to one who has scored some very important goals for United this season.

For all the stick Fellaini received from Man United fans at various points over the past two years, he should be credited when for performances like this and the fact Gazzetta gave him a high rating is indicative of that.
