Manchester United becoming increasingly concerned that David de Gea will leave

Manchester United are becoming increasingly concerned that David de Gea will leave the club as the Spaniard has so far refused to discuss a new contract at Old Trafford.

Mirror Sport reports Man United are prepared to offer the 24-year-old a contract worth as much as £140,000 a week but attempts to discuss the deal with De Gea’s camp have fallen on deaf ears.

De Gea’s is nearing the final year of his current contract and the lack of progress will alert Real Madrid, who have been heavily linked with the keeper for a number of months.

The European champions have identified De Gea as Iker Casillas’ successor as the 33-year-old is going through a bad patch of form.

Fans would be devastated if De Gea was to leave United as he has established himself as one of the world’s best in his position during his time in England.

After a shaky start to life at United, De Gea has flourished at the club and is one of the main reasons why Louis van Gaal’s side are still in the race to finish in the top four of the Premier League.

There are rumoured to be a number of factors behind De Gea’s reluctance to sign a new deal, with his girlfriend, United’s inconsistent form and life in Manchester all said to be in consideration. One things for certain, fans at United will always be behind De Gea. That is not always the case at Madrid, with Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo booed at the Bernabeu in recent weeks.
