Ander Herrera continues to impress Manchester United supporters

by Richard Laverty

Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera once again started under Louis van Gaal against Liverpool on Sunday and once again produced a fine performance in the 2-1 win.

Herrera was influential in United’s 3-0 over Tottenham last week and the Spaniard continued his good form with a beautiful pass to play in his international colleague Juan Mata for the opening goal against Liverpool.

After a good start to life at Old Trafford, United supporters quickly fell in love with their new man.

But a combination of injuries and bad luck saw Herrera drop out of the team and the 25-year-old did not start a Premier League game in two months. He appears to have put that behind him and fans were delighted with his contribution at Anfield:

Van Gaal’s decision to employ a 4-3-3 formation in recent weeks has made Herrera a central part of the team and his influence is growing by the week.

Fans will only wonder where United would be had the new boss sussed out his best team and formation earlier in the season.
