Juan Mata has made himself a Manchester United legend with his performance against Liverpool today at Anfield.
There’s a reason Man United fans still sing Diego Forlan’s name 13 years on from his famous double at Anfield and Mata will get the same treatment now.
Mata’s goals were certainly not knock-ins either.
The first was a measured finish after a superb first touch from a threaded Ander Herrera pass put him through and the scissors kick for his second will be talked about for years to come.
What a performance that was from Mata in the single biggest game of the season for any Man United fan.
There were some questions being asked about whether Mata should be in the starting XI or if Angel di Maria was going to come straight back in the team but Louis van Gaal stuck by the Spaniard and it was certainly the right decision.
Well done Juan!
