Luke Shaw withdrawn from England duty due to injury

Luke Shaw has withdrawn from international duty with England and will take no part in their games against Lithuania and Italy next week.

Louis van Gaal confirmed on Friday that Shaw was not fit enough to start for Manchester United against Liverpool and his withdrawl from England duty will give him a much better chance to recover.

Shaw, who joined for £27m in the summer, enjoyed a relatively injury free career at Southampton but has been plagued with a series of problems since he moved to Man United in the summer.

This latest set-back isn’t serious as far as injuries go but it’s making it impossible for him to build up any sort of momentum with regular minutes on the pitch.

With Marcos Rojo also ruled out of the Liverpool game, Daley Blind is set to deputise once again at left-back and Shaw will no doubt be frustrated to be missing so much football by being stuck on the sidelines.

United’s injury woes has been a long-standing problem with the club that dates back to Sir Alex and despite brand new medical facilities being installed at Carrington, the issues don’t seem to have gone away which is very worrying.
