Borussia Dortmund prepared to sell Mats Hummels – report

Borussia Dortmund have indicated they are prepared to listen to offers for Manchester United target Mats Hummels.

According to ESPN, Dortmund are considering selling their captain following a disappointing season at the Westfalenstadion.

Hummels has been strongly linked with a move to Man United this season as Louis van Gaal looks to expand his defensive options at the club.

With Dortmund unlikely to qualify for next season’s Champions League they know they may be forced to raise money by selling their best players.

United have one of the best defensive records in the Premier League this year but that has largely been down to the quality of David de Gea rather than their defensive back line.

Jonny Evans hasn’t been up to scratch while Phil Jones, Chris Smalling and Luke Shaw have been in and out the team through injury.

Hummels isn’t the only defender to have been linked with United, with the club also said to be looking at the likes of Aymeric Laporte and Raphael Varane. It is clear that United will be busy in the transfer window which will encourage fans at the team looks to move past a transitional period.
