Danilo flattered with Real Madrid links

Manchester United target Danilo has admitted he is flattered to be linked with Real Madrid but said he is focused on current club Porto.

The Brazilian right-back has been in fine form in Portugal this season and is said to be on Man United’s radar amid uncertainty surrounding the future of Rafael and Antonio Valencia.

However, reports have suggested that Madrid have already agreed a five-year deal for Danilo which will be announced in the summer.

The player himself says he it happy to be attracting interest from the European champions but is just focused on playing well.

Speaking about the speculation, Danilo said: “I’m having a great season playing with FC Porto. It’s natural that this may generate speculation from bigger clubs, but at present I’m focusing on just the Brazilian national team and playing in the Portuguese league, though it is gratifying to be linked with the likes of Madrid.

“It’s not something I’ve discussed with [Brazil teammate and Real Madrid defender] Marcelo. When the season finishes, then it will be time to review my future.”

With Dani Alves also linked with United, right-back is likely to be a particular area of interest for van Gaal during the summer.

It would be a shame to lose Rafael as the 24-year-old has established himself as a fans’ favourite since his arrival with twin brother Fabio in 2008 but the pragmatic van Gaal doesn’t seem to like Rafael’s expansive playing style.
