Northern Ireland XI: McGovern, D.Lafferty, Evans, Baird, Dallas, Reeves, Norwood, McNair, Hughes, Magennis, Grigg
Paddy McNair will make his full debut for Northern Ireland tonight in their match against Darren Fletcher’s Scotland.
It continues what has been a fantastic year of progress for the 19-year-old having already made his Manchester United debut earlier this season having been given the opportunity by Louis van Gaal.
His position at this stage is unknown but he has played at both centre-back and right-back at Man United this year, so it is more than likely going to be in one of those two spots.
McNair was extremely impressive in his first appearances for United and surprised those who had watched him progress through the U21s because few expected him to be so assured.
Although he did have setbacks such as his performance away to Arsenal where he was taken off before half-time, McNair will be delighted with his progress.
Denis Irwin thinks McNair is a top prospect and he isn’t the only one. Having already signed a new deal with United, van Gaal sees some potential in McNair and went as far as to say he could become a great player, so he will be delighted to see him start tonight against Scotland.
