False Gareth Bale rumours get Manchester United fans excited

by Sam Peoples

Gareth Bale’s potential move to Manchester United is going to be one of this year’s transfer sagas, you can already feel it.

Like Arturo Vidal and Thiago Alcantara in the past, Bale will be constantly linked with Man United right up until the transfer window closes (or he joins United).

So, when reports emerged claiming Bale responding to questions over a potential future move to Man United, people on Twitter were understandably excited. Unfortunately, they were nothing more than a rumour:

Some quick research showed us the account was a fake but managed to dupe a host of websites and accounts, including the BBC’s Radio 6 show, who believed it was legitimate, in what was a perfect example of when social media can go wrong.

As it stands, Bale is not joining United and has not commented on the rumours recently, so nothing has changed in that respect.
