Javier Hernandez ends goalscoring drought with goal against Ecuador

by Sam Peoples

Javier Hernandez has ended his goalscoring drought with a wonderfully taken goal for Mexico against Ecuador in an international friendly.

The 26-year-old striker curled his shot in from outside the box and puts an end to what has been a horrible and sustained period for Chicharito.

Prior to his goal against Ecuador, Chicharito hadn’t scored a goal since November in any competition for club or country. Yes, since November.

For a player who was once so deadly at Manchester United, it’s a bit of a horrible fall from grace but he’ll now just be glad to get back among the goals.

A goal drought dating back to November? It’s a phenomenally poor record for any striker, let alone one who is considered a great finisher and plays on loan from Man United at Real Madrid.

Either way, now he’s got that monkey off his back, maybe Chicharito can get back to scoring goals on a regular basis. Alternatively, we’ll have to wait until July for his next goal.
