Mats Hummels reveals desire to eventually eave the Bundesliga

by Sam Peoples

Mats Hummels has admitted he would like to leave the Bundesliga at some point in order to further his career.

The Borussia Dortmund captain has been one of the players most heavily linked with Manchester United this season and those rumours are still going on at the moment.

Although he has insisted he remains loyal to Dortmund and prefers to be very straight with his future plans, Hummels is doing nothing but fan the flames of the rumour mill with his latest comments.

Speaking to Kicker.de, Hummels said: “Basically…I think moving abroad will be good for my professional and personal well being. Eventually, I’d like to leave the Bundesliga.

“I’m being open about this because I’m not a fan of those who claim they are staying but, behind the scenes, have actually secretly agreed a transfer away from their current club.”

Honesty with transfers is not the usual practice from modern day footballers, so it’s refreshing to hear it in that respect from Hummels.

As for Louis van Gaal, it’s an open invitation from Hummels. He’s clearly at least entertaining the idea about his future beyond Dortmund, so a bid from Man United this summer could prove very tempting indeed.
