Louis van Gaal: I can’t leave Marouane Fellaini out when he is playing like this

Louis van Gaal has admitted Marouane Fellaini‘s form makes it impossible to even consider dropping him from Manchester United’s starting XI.

Fellaini went into the international break after following up his best performance in a Man United shirt against Tottenham Hotspur with a powerful display away to Liverpool at Anfield.

He didn’t stop there either as he scored another three goals in two appearances with Belgium to continue his excellent run of form.

All in all, Fellaini is in the richest vein of form he has had since joining Man United two summers ago and van Gaal revealed he has been impressed with him from day one on the training ground.

“When he plays as he does now I can not change him,” said Van Gaal.

“I have heard a lot of stories about him but from the first training session he did what I asked.

“He was open and he wants to perform so I am not surprised with his form. He had an unlucky season because he was injured and ill, but when fit he has always played for me because I was looking for a balance and he can give a lot of balance.

“The first time I met him he was late because of the World Cup. I didn’t know him. I knew him as a coach, that he played for Manchester United and Everton and national team, but it’s the first time I saw him was in Manchester.”

Far from a midfielder who many United fans saw as a waste of space, Fellaini has become an integral part of the team and van Gaal’s latest comments on his importance are indicative of that.
