Manchester United loan watch including Pearson and Johnstone

by Phil Shearer

Ben Pearson completed 90 minutes for Barnsley as they picked up their second draw in two games, playing out a 2-2 draw with Bristol City. Barnsley will likely be happy picking up a point against the runaway League One leaders but may feel they could have gotten more as they lead 2-1 until the 84th minute. The result leaves Pearson and Barnsley sitting one point outside the play-off places.

Sam Johnstone played the full 90 minutes as Preston North End drew 1-1 with Fleetwood Town, making it consecutive 1-1 draws for Johnstone and co. The result sees Preston remain second in the League One table, ten points behind leaders Bristol City and four points ahead of third placed Swindon Town.

Guillermo Varela and Real Madrid Castilla made an emphatic return to winning ways with a thumping 5-1 win over Las Palmas II. Varela completed the full 90 minutes, picking up a yellow card in the first half. The result brings Castilla up to sixth place in the Segunda B table and sitting six points behind current leaders Huesca.

Reece James has joined Huddersfield Town on an emergency loan and will finish the season at the Championship club.

The rest of the United loan players were not in action due to the international break.
