Wayne Rooney has got himself a new pair of Nike Hypervenom boots ahead of Manchester United’s clash against Aston Villa this weekend.
After his underwhelming and, in many respects disappointing, performance away to Liverpool, Rooney could do with a new pair of boots if only for when he is taking penalties.
In all seriousness, Rooney will want to forget his performance at Anfield and kick on because his last 90 minutes at Old Trafford against Tottenham Hotspur was superb, and fans are hoping to see a repeat of that on Saturday.
Getting three points against Liverpool was the best result and performance so far this season but it will count for nothing if United can’t beat Villa at home, so this game is equally as important as part of the crucial run-in.
Ander Herrera explained Rooney’s importance to the team morale right now as leader and captain and he’ll need to lead by example once again today.
A game against Villa might not carry the glamour of Liverpool away but every single game is crucial between now and the end of the season, so United cannot afford to be complacent at any point, starting with the Villa game.
