Manchester United head into the derby this weekend in-form and full of confidence. On the contrary, a wounded Manchester City will have endured a long journey back from Crystal Palace after slipping to yet another defeat.
Their title hopes are crumbling at the same time as United’s grip on the top four is tightening, which sets up the derby perfectly for Sunday.
Now, with United in such good form, it’s hard to look past an unchanged XI from Louis van Gaal unless injuries force him to make them, such as Marcos Rojo coming in for Chris Smalling against Aston Villa.
However, maybe there are a couple of changes United’s boss could do. Angel di Maria came off the bench against Villa and had a positive impact so van Gaal may well be considering bringing the Argentinian back in from the start.
That would mean pushing Ashley Young to the bench which doesn’t seem too likely but if van Gaal wants pace in attack, there’s no better suited player than Di Maria.
