Luke Shaw hoping for a red Manchester after the derby

by Ben Topliss

Manchester United defender Luke Shaw has done his part to build the excitement ahead of this weekend’s derby game against Man City.

Louis van Gaal’s side go into the game having won five games in a row, beating the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool along the way.

On the other hand, City are going through a poor run of form and succumbed to a 2-1 defeat against Crystal Palace on Monday night. As a consequence, they head into the derby in fourth place behind Man United.

Shaw could make his return to the squad for the game and he’ll be hoping for a red Manchester come the full-time whistle on Sunday.

Daley Blind has been filling in at left-back for United as Shaw has been suffering from an injury in recent weeks and the Dutchman has been excellent in Shaw’s absence having put in a string of top-class displays, so there’s no guarantees at all that Shaw would return to the starting XI even if he is available.

Going into the game, United are the team who look full of confidence on the pitch but as is always the case, form sometimes counts for nothing in the derby and fans will know anything can happen at Old Trafford. Bring on Sunday.
