Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero believes Manchester United’s Radamel Falcao is still a “gifted” player despite his troubles this season.
Falcao joined Man United on loan from Monaco last summer with a reputation as one of the world’s best players but he has so far struggled at Old Trafford.
The Colombian has been left on the substitute’s bench by Louis van Gaal in recent weeks having scored just four goals this term.
However, Aguero insisted Falcao remains a quality player and that he admires his determination.
Speaking about Falcao, Aguero said: “They have a number of very talented strikers. The one who in his career has been the most predatory is Falcao.
“He isn’t having an easy time this season, but I really admire his commitment and his class and qualities are permanent.
“He is probably one of the most naturally gifted strikers in football at the moment.”
The saying goes that form is temporary, class is permanent but Falcao has done little to convince fans he could turn his fortunes around if United choose to keep him next season.
It is highly unlikely that he will start against City this weekend, although he may come on from the bench. A goal against United’s noisy neighbours would go a long way to leaving a lasting legacy at Old Trafford but it is fair to say that fans will not be holding their breath.
