Manchester United’s best XI to face Manchester City

Angel di Maria and Radamel Falcao? No thanks. Marouane Fellaini and Ashley Young? Now we’re talking!

Many fans may have expected Di Maria and Falcao to play a big part in Manchester United’s season but it is actually Fellaini and Young who currently look the far more dangerous players.

The duo have been among Man United’s best performers this season and it would be impossible to leave them out against Manchester City on Sunday. Di Maria, while unlucky to be left out, is able of making an impact from the bench.

As well as Fellaini and Young, Ander Herrera and Juan Mata are enjoying arguably the best periods of their United careers.

Herrera, in particular, is expected to dominate the midfield once more despite the formidable opposition of David Silva and Yaya Toure.

Elsewhere, Daley Blind continues at left-back after a string of superb performances there against Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa.

With Marcos Rojo and Chris Smalling alongside him, United should be able to shackle Sergio Aguero, who has looked slightly off form given his high standards this season. Louis van Gaal may spring a surprise with his team selection but if United line up like this then fans will be confident of taking away all three points.
