WhoScored have revealed their combined Manchester United and Manchester City starting XI ahead of Sunday’s key Manchester derby at Old Trafford.
United sit ahead of their city rivals for the first time since the opening day of last season and can put a four point gap between them tomorrow as well as consolidate their spot in the top four.
Based on stats, the combined eleven isn’t too far away from what most impartial supporters may choose given the relevant strengths and weaknesses of the two sides.
Six United players take their spot in the team whilst five come from the blue side of Manchester, including the likes of Yaya Toure, David Silva and Sergio Aguero.
David de Gea is perhaps the most set in stone player in the team given his form and will be key to keeping out Aguero on Sunday. Despite a poor run of form, the Argentine tends to pop up with a goal against United.
Despite defensive issues, the inclusion of Chris Smalling and Phil Jones also points to the troubles City are currently experiencing at the back whilst Daley Blind takes his place in midfield alongside Ander Herrera as opposed to the current midfielders Michael Carrick and Marouane Fellaini.
The red hot Wayne Rooney is the final red in the team, playing alongside Aguero. The two are in totally differing runs of form right now and supporters will hope the captain continues his goalscoring run come 4pm on Sunday.
