Manchester United fans may still find it hard to forget that Ander Herrera spent two months sat on the bench without a start as recently as February but the Spaniard is continuing to make up for lost time.
Herrera is an ever-increasingly popular figure at Old Trafford and put in another excellent display against Manchester City to continue his fine recent form.
Whilst he didn’t add to his goal tally of five Premier League strikes, Herrera’s solid performance helped United demolish City’s midfield.
Herrera regularly turned City’s players inside out, made room for himself and others and put in a great ball which led to United’s opener.
It was another string to Herrera’s bow which is continuing to play sweet music every game week and fans are happy to be watching him flourish:
Herrera did his job quietly in midfield, but his unbelievable class and passion was clear. He's gonna win us titles in the coming years.

I'll tell you what though. Herrera is the best player on this pitch. I don't mean he's playing well I mean he's the best player on the pitch

Whilst most supporters realised Herrera’s class as soon as he arrived at Old Trafford, it appears Van Gaal wanted to mould him into his own midfielder, and what a midfielder he’s been turned into.
It was Juan Mata‘s turn to get in on the goals on Sunday, but Herrera played a key role throughout and will continue to do so.
