Ashley Young’s renaissance continues with dominant performance against Man City

Not for the first time this season, Ashley Young was arguably the best player on the pitch for Manchester United as they beat rivals Manchester City with a commanding and controlled performance.

Despite a game which saw United stick four past City and a range of impressive individual performances, Young’s was the stand out, having scored the first before assisting two more as United outplayed their neighbours.

The win puts United four points clear of fourth place City and it was thanks to Young they managed to get a foot hold in the match.

He bundled home Ander Herrera‘s cross after Gael Clichy had blocked his initial effort, and United fans are continuing to be impressed by his performances.

Young then put in what is becoming a trademark cross for United’s second. Cutting in on to his right foot, Young found the head of Marouane Fellaini, before putting in a delightful free-kick for Chris Smalling to head home number four.

It was a performance Young had shown glimpses of during his opening season at Old Trafford. This season, Young has been a revelation under van Gaal and the fans appreciate it. Long may it continue.
