David de Gea thanks Manchester United team-mates after PFA Player of the Year nomination

David de Gea was tonight named on the short-list for the 2015 PFA Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year award.

The 24-year-old has been Manchester United’s stand-out performer this year and has individually earned so many points for Louis van Gaal‘s across the course of the season.

Everton at home and Arsenal away are two examples of games where De Gea’s performance really has been match winning but regardless of how well the Spaniard has been playing, he’s remaining modest.

Instead of taking the praise, De Gea has thanked his United team-mates for ‘making it possible’:

De Gea has got this all mixed up as it should be his team-mates thanking him. The only reason he has been able to take centre stage so often is because United’s defence has been shaky.

Last year De Gea won the Players’ Player and Fans’ Player of the Year at Man United and having been nominated for both PFA awards this year, it is nothing less than he deserves for what has been a stunning campaign.
