Fans’ view: Who should start up front for Manchester United against Chelsea?

by Ben Topliss

A raft of injuries at Manchester United has left Louis van Gaal with a headache when it comes to his starting XI against Chelsea on Saturday night.

Michael Carrick, Marcos Rojo, Daley Blind and Phil Jones are all injured, meaning van Gaal will be forced to make wholesale changes to his personnel at Stamford Bridge.

The Dutchman recently hinted Wayne Rooney may be moved back to midfield in the absence of Blind and Carrick so there is a question mark over who will start up front for United.

We asked our Twitter followers for their thoughts on who should lead the attack against Chelsea:

The decision seems to be between Radamel Falcao and Robin van Persie, with pros and cons for both, but Falcao is who the majority of fans want to see start.

Van Persie scored against Chelsea earlier this season but has only just returned to action following an ankle injury while Falcao is ready and raring to go despite his poor spell at Old Trafford.

It is an important decision to make and one that could potentially decide the outcome of the match. However, van Gaal will know he can bring one or the other off the substitute’s bench if things aren’t going to plan for his side.
