Louis van Gaal: David de Gea deserves PFA nominations

by Ben Topliss

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal believes David de Gea is fully deserving of his PFA Player of the Year nominations.

The Spaniard is up for both the Players’ Player and Young Player of the Year awards following a fantastic season.

De Gea has pulled United out of a bad spot on a number of occasions and is the main reason why the team are in such a strong position heading into the final few games of the campaign.

Van Gaal was delighted for the 24-year-old and reiterated how important he is to United.

When asked about De Gea’s PFA nominations, van Gaal said: “I think De Gea deserves it very much because he is very important for Manchester United and I’m very happy for him.”

De Gea is arguably the world’s best goalkeeper right now and it is no surprise to see all the plaudits which are coming his way.

It appears that Real Madrid are fully aware of how good De Gea is as the Spanish side have been continually linked with him this term. With De Gea’s current deal at United ending next year, fans are becoming increasingly concerned over where his future lies. Hopefully, the player will sign the dotted line on a new contract after United secure Champions League football.
