Ander Herrera: Manchester United deserved more against Chelsea

by Sam Peoples

Ander Herrera is proud of Manchester United despite the 1-0 loss against Chelsea on Saturday evening and feels they deserved more from the game.

Man United were the better side for much of the game at Stamford Bridge but an Eden Hazard goal eventually sealed three points for the hosts.

It was an encouraging performance from United given the absence of Michael Carrick, Phil Jones, Marcos Rojo and Daley Blind through injury.

Herrera believes United deserved more from the match and urged his teammates to keep their good momentum going:

United missed Carrick in particular as it meant Herrera had to take more of the responsibility in midfield. The 25-year-old could not link up as well with Juan Mata and United’s attacking play suffered as a result.

Nevertheless, it is no shame to lose to Chelsea away from home. Jose Mourinho’s side will more than likely go on to win the Premier League title and it’s games like that which will seal it. With a solid pre-season and a couple new signings, there is no reason why United can’t challenge next term.
