Guillem Balague: Javier Hernandez will return to England but not with Manchester United

Spanish football expert Guillem Balague believes Javier Hernandez will play in England next season, but not for Manchester United.

Hernandez is on loan at Real Madrid from Man United and scored to send the European champions through to the Champions League semi-finals on Wednesday night at the expense of rivals Atletico.

It was a special moment for the Mexican but his time in Spain has been largely disappointing and it is unlikely that Madrid will take up an option to sign him at the end of the season.

Speaking about his future with Sky Sports, Balague said he felt United would pass on Hernandez in the summer, with several other English clubs interested in his services instead.

“If Real Madrid want him there is a 10m euros [£7.15m] buyout clause,” Balague said.

“But they are not going to keep him. There are several big English clubs that want him, but I don’t think Manchester United want to keep him.

“He will move on to one of those other English clubs.”

Hernandez may have gone through a rough year but he undoubtedly retains the ability to score goals, as his opportunistic strike against Atletico shows.

Although not good enough for United, he could well prove a success at a smaller club such as Southampton. Hopefully Hernandez can end the season strongly with Madrid to build up some momentum ahead of the next campaign.
