Manchester United are confident of signing PSV Eindhoven Memphis Depay in the summer, according to the Manchester Evening News.

Depay is the Eredivisie’s top scorer and helped his side seal the league title with a goal in the 4-1 win over Heerenveen last weekend.

The Dutchman has garnered attention from the likes of Paris Saint-Germain, Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Bayern Munich as a result.

However, Man United expect Depay to move to Old Trafford as they are prepared to pay him £130,000 a week.

United are also aware that the player’s close relationship with Louis van Gaal gives them an advantage when it comes to securing his signature.

All the signs are pointing towards Depay joining United but fans will know that football is not that straightforward.

Players such as Eden Hazard, Lucas Moura and Gareth Bale have also been close to joining United before going elsewhere. The club will be keen to avoid history repeating itself when it comes to Depay, as well as getting him in early to give him the best possible start ahead of next season.
