The rumours surrounding Borussia Dortmund’s Ilkay Gundogan and Manchester United had seemed to die down after the midfielder sustained a back injury in 2013 which kept him out of action for almost a year.
However, reports earlier this week have once again raised the suggestion that Gundogan could make the move to Old Trafford this summer.
We asked our Twitter followers whether or not they would be happy with the signing of Gundogan:
@PeoplesPerson_ IF he can stay fit then yeah don't want another Hargreaves

@PeoplesPerson_ well the only problem is his injury record.

@PeoplesPerson_ Would love it. We got Blind but its good to have backup when both him &Carrick are out. Only worry – Gundogan's injury prone

@PeoplesPerson_ Top class, but injury-prone. A box to box guy more than being DM

@PeoplesPerson_ If he can rediscover old form. People saying he's injury prone, not true. Just got one bad injury.

@PeoplesPerson_ There's better options for Carrick's position I think. Schneiderlin, Verratti & Koke mentioned, all ahead of Gundogan, imo.

The majority of fans seem to be agreed that Gundogan is a quality player but that United must be wary of bringing him in given his injury record.
It is true that Gundogan was sidelined for large stretches of last season but the 24-year-old appears to have put his issues behind him.
He has made 25 appearances for Dortmund and Germany over the course of this campaign, registering three goals and four assists. If he is really back to 100%, it would be an excellent bit of business if United were to sign him.
