Memphis Depay scores another free-kick for PSV as goalscoring form continues

Memphis Depay scored another direct free-kick tonight for PSV with a great effort against Excelsior.

The 21-year-old’s curled effort pulled PSV level to 2-2 and later in the game he had a shot which was steered in to give the Dutch champions a 3-2 win with ten men.

Depay’s free-kick was the sixth he has scored this season from 29 attempts which is more than any other player in Europe’s top five leagues.

After a week where Depay has had plenty of distractions following PSV securing the Dutch title last week and all the reports linking him with Manchester United, it’s impressive to see him play so well and steer PSV to another win with a goal and an assist.

As for his goalscoring threat from free-kicks, it’s a good asset for any player to have. That being said, if he did end up moving to Man United then he will have Wayne Rooney and Juan Mata ahead of him in the pecking order.
