Player Ratings: Everton 3-0 Manchester United

by Richard Laverty

David de Gea 5 Looked nervous all afternoon and not his usual imposing self. Made a good save late on.

Antonio Valencia 4 Attacked relatively well but defending came undone on Sunday. Lost Stones and let Mirallas go for the third.

Chris Smalling 6 Stood still with his colleagues for the third but one of United’s better performers, can hold his head relatively high.

Paddy McNair 5 Incredibly assured on the ball but looked nervous, not for the first time.

Luke Shaw 7 Another very good performance from the 19-year-old. Attacked well and roasted Coleman on the overlap.

Daley Blind 5 Just couldn’t hold the midfield together as Carrick can, Shaw’s performances make his first eleven future look bleak.

Ander Herrera 5 Really didn’t get into the game today, tried hard but nothing happened, not one of his finer games.

Marouane Fellaini 4 Struggled on his return to Goodison, cut a frustrated figure, missed a great chance and was subbed at half-time.

Juan Mata 5 Got a lot of the ball but didn’t do a great deal with it. Was subbed for Di Maria after an hour.

Ashley Young 5 Linked well with Shaw once again but couldn’t get any rhythm to his game. Looked disconsolate.

Wayne Rooney 4 Just never happened once again on another return to Goodison. Couldn’t get involved and limped off late on.

Radamel Falcao 4 Worked hard and put in a great finish after rounding Howard, sadly, the offside flag was up.

Angel Di Maria 4 Continued frustrating recent sub appearances. His crosses were below par, needs a confidence boost from somewhere.

Robin van Persie N/A Was a late addition to the game, just to replace a limping Rooney.
