Radamel Falcao to play in Javier Zanetti’s charity match – report

by Ben Topliss

Manchester United striker Radamel Falcao is set to play in Javier Zanetti’s all-star charity match at the San Siro on 4 May after being included in a provisional squad list for the event, according to Corriere Dello Sport.

Inter Milan legend Zanetti retired at the end of last season after making over 800 appearances for the club.

Inter announced this week that they would be retiring the Argentine’s no.4 shirt before he takes up a role as vice-president of the Italian side.

Zanetti will feature in a charity match to help underprivileged children before he hangs up his boots for good and Falcao has been pencilled in to play.

Falcao has not scored a goal for Man United in 14 games in all competitions and it looks likely that he will be moved on in the summer.

The charity match will come two days after United’s fixture against West Bromwich Albion next weekend and it remains to be seen whether Louis van Gaal will sanction his involvement.

Players such as Dani Alves, Gonzalo Higuain, Esteban Cambiasso, Paolo Maldini, Franco Baresi and Andriy Shevchenko have all also been named on the provisional list.
