Louis van Gaal blasts Antonio Valencia and Daley Blind following Everton defeat – report

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal tore into Antonio Valencia and Daley Blind in training following the 3-0 defeat against Everton last weekend, according to the Manchester Evening News.

The majority of Man United’s players were awful during the game but the MEN reports suggest van Gaal paid particular attention to Blind and Valencia.

Blind was partly at fault for James McCarthy’s opener as the midfielder burst through unchallenged to score Everton’s opener, while Valencia switched off before allowing Kevin Mirallas to race through for the third goal.

That being said, it seems harsh to point the finger solely at either player because as van Gaal has reiterated on more than one occasion this season, part of philosophy is winning and losing as a team.

Earlier this week, Ray Wilkins criticised Blind for his poor positional play. It was a deeply disappointing performance from the Dutchman, who had impressed during a recent six-game winning streak.

Van Gaal demands perfection from his players so he would have been livid after the game. It was a shame to see United put in such an abject performance after they built up a head of steam with wins against the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool.
