Joe Rothwell continues fine progress with fantastic double against Fulham U21s

Joe Rothwell was on form last night in Manchester United’s U21s 4-1 win over Fulham and scored two fantastic goals.

Both goals from the 20-year-old midfield were excellent and composed finishes that any striker would have been proud of.

The first saw Rothwell beat the offside trap with a well timed run before he coolly slotted his finish in past the on-rushing Fulham goalkeeper.

His second was equally as impressive as Rothwell’s first time effort from outside the box couldn’t have been placed better as it left the keeper with no chance of stopping it.

It’s been a good year of progression for Rothwell having been called up to train with the first-team earlier this season and he also spent time on loan at Blackpool. Although the loan spell wasn’t much of a success, the experience will help him develop as a player.

Louis van Gaal is likely to take some younger players on the pre-season tour in order to give them some experience and Rothwell is one player who is likely to be on his list.
