Louis van Gaal confirms Wayne Rooney is available to face West Bromwich Albion

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has confirmed Wayne Rooney will be available to face West Bromwich Albion on Saturday after recovering from a knee injury.

Rooney picked up the knock during Man United’s 3-0 defeat against Everton last weekend, forcing him off.

Reports earlier this week suggested the United captain could be out for the rest of the season but it appears they were wide of the mark.

Instead, Rooney will more than likely start at Old Trafford against Tony Pulis’ side:

There were some genuine concerns from United fans this week so the news that Rooney is fit and ready to go will come as a big boost.

However, Robin van Persie may be downhearted as it looked like he might have got a chance to start up front after scoring twice for the U21s against Fulham.

Van Gaal will know that there is no room sentiment when it comes to his team selection as United look to wrap up Champions League qualification for next season.
