Manchester United’s potential 4-3-3 vs West Bromwich Albion

by Ben Topliss

It’s looking increasingly unlikely that Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney will be fit to face West Bromwich Albion on Saturday after he hobbled off against Everton last weekend.

Louis van Gaal confirmed the Man United captain suffered a knee injury during the game and there have been reports this week that he could be out for the season.

Thankfully, van Gaal can turn to Robin van Persie as a replacement after he scored twice in the U21s win against Fulham on Monday.

The 31-year-old is only just returning from injury himself but he looked sharp and ready to go during the runout.

Tony Pulis’ side will be difficult to break down and van Persie will provide much more of a cutting edge than Radamel Falcao would.

Elsewhere, Michael Carrick may also return from injury to line up in the middle of the park.

This would mean there would be no room for Daley Blind but the Dutchman was poor against Everton and it is more than likely that he will be dropped.
