Juan Mata urged his Manchester United teammates to learn from their disappointing 1-0 defeat at the hands of West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.
Man United dominated possession at Old Trafford but could not find a way past a stubborn West Brom defence.
Eventually, Chris Brunt scored what would be the winning goal before Robin van Persie missed a penalty for Louis van Gaal’s side.
Mata was disappointed with the result and urged United to bounce back against Crystal Palace next week.
Speaking after the game, Mata said: ”It’s a frustrating afternoon for us. If you don’t score, it’s impossible to win.
“We know some teams will do this and we have to find a way to beat them. We need to learn from this and keep going.
“We know that Liverpool and more teams are coming from behind so we need more points as soon as possible.”
Mata is absolutely right that United need to adapt their game in the face of defensively minded teams.
On far too many occasions this season, van Gaal’s side have been completely nullified by opponents simply putting numbers behind the ball. With a lack of creativity in the side, United quickly run out of ideas, leading to results such as those against West Brom. They cannot afford to slip up again.
