Manchester United vs West Brom: Team line-ups

by Ben Topliss

Manchester United: De Gea, Valencia, Smalling, McNair, Blind, Mata, Herrera, Fellaini, Young, Rooney, van Persie

Subs: Valdes, Blackett, Jones, Di Maria, Januzaj, Pereira, Falcao

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has made one change to his side for the game against West Bromwich Albion this evening, with Robin van Persie coming in for Luke Shaw.

The change means Wayne Rooney will reprise his midfield role in the absence of the injured Michael Carrick.

Daley Blind starts at left-back, while Paddy McNair lines up in central defence as Phil Jones is not 100% ready.

Meanwhile, Ashley Young and Juan Mata start on the flanks despite calls for Angel di Maria to start at Old Trafford.

It is a strong team from van Gaal and one that should be able to secure the three points against Tony Pulis’ side. However, United will know they can take nothing for granted following the 3-0 defeat against Everton last time out.
