Ander Herrera performance splits Manchester United fans

by Richard Laverty

Ander Herrera may be a fan’s favourite at Old Trafford, but the popular Spaniard has struggled as much as anybody in recent weeks.

Whilst nobody can knock Herrera’s effort and the fact he does try to create openings for his teammates, the midfielder has struggled in recent games against teams who give him little space to work in.

Against Chelsea and West Brom, Herrera has been required to play a deeper role, ensuring he hasn’t been able to influence games further up the field, as he was doing up to the 4-2 win over Manchester City.

Despite a relatively poor performance from the whole team, fans were divided on Herrera’s most recent performance.

Whilst there are no doubts about Herrera’s quality, now is the time where United fans want to see their new signings step up and show they’re good enough to break down stubborn teams.

The squad has failed to score in three consecutive games against teams happy to defend, and many will want to see the likes of Herrera influencing attacks more than recent matches.
