“The club needs to fit me, I can’t say anything about particular clubs,” Gundogan said in an interview with Kicker when asked about whether he had an agreement with Man United.

Gundogan also made it clear he wasn’t willing to leave Dortmund until the club received a suitable bid.

He added: “That was also a reason why I signed a one-year contract extension last year. It’s very, very important to me that the club gets an appropriate compensation.”

Ilkay Gundogan 7Louis van Gaal has already confirmed he wants to sign a new central midfielder this summer and after confirming he wants to leave Dortmund, Gundogan’s name will be on a list of potential signings.

While the 24-year-old might downplay reports linking him with United, that isn’t to say there hasn’t been anything happening behind the scenes but for now the interest is being cooled.
