PSV confirm Adnan Januzaj not part of Memphis Depay deal with Manchester United

PSV’s technical director Marcel Brands has said there is no Manchester United player involved in the Memphis Depay deal.

Adnan Januzaj was tipped to join PSV on loan and there was a suggestion that the 20-year-old could be involved in any agreement to bring Depay to Old Trafford.

However, Brands has confirmed that is not the case which means Depay’s arrival at Man United doesn’t directly affect Januzaj’s future under Louis van Gaal.

That being said, the young Belgian may well be loaned out to either PSV or another club in a separate deal because while Depay doesn’t directly affect Januzaj’s future, the added competition means he will find it even more difficult to get game time and a loan could be the right move for him.

On paper, a loan move to PSV still looks like a fantastic idea for Januzaj. He would go in and immediately replace Depay which would be the right sort of pressure to help him perform and his roots in Belgium mean he shouldn’t find it very difficult to settle into a relatively familiar environment.

Van Gaal sent plenty of players out on loan last summer and although it isn’t guaranteed Januzaj will go out on a temporary deal, it does seem like the right move for his career at this time.
