Memphis Depay has been very impressive all season with PSV in Holland but there is one thing which stands out for him and that is his phenomenal goal return.
In 34 total appearances for PSV across all competitions, Depay scored a remarkable 24 goals. This season, he is their top goalscorer which is impressive when you consider the fact he is 21 but even more impressive given that he has predominantly played on the wing.
Manchester United have a long history of wingers who create untold amounts of problems for opposition defences with their direct style of play and Depay can bring exactly that type of threat to Louis van Gaal‘s side.
Goalscoring threat is something that United’s current wingers haven’t offered enough of this season and as we’re set to move to a 4-3-3 formation on a permanent basis, somebody like Depay adds a whole new dimension to United’s attack.
Imagine how United could look next season if Angel di Maria re-finds his best form, Depay settles down well and Wayne Rooney thrives in a central striking role on his own? It has the potential to be as potent as the 2007/8 attacking trident of Rooney, Ronaldo and Tevez.
