Manchester United fans run out of superlatives for David De Gea

by Richard Laverty

After a few weeks of Manchester United fans believing David de Gea‘s head was firmly in Madrid, he responded with a superb save that kept United in the match against Crystal Palace.

After a second deflected free-kick in the space of a week brought Palace level, the home side through everything at United but were denied by a sensational save.

Glenn Murray tried to dink the ball past De Gea from close range, but the number one somehow stuck out a hand to divert the ball away.

Even by his own standards, it was one of his best of the season and had United fans firmly back on his side.

Despite better form, better performances and an almost certain return to the top four, De Gea will surely win United’s Player of the Year for a second year in a row, deservedly too.

Without him, supporters can only wonder where United would sit in the table and there will be more wondering about whether he’ll still be at Old Trafford come August.
