PSV still undecided about playing Memphis Depay against ADO Den Haag

PSV manager Philip Cocu has confirmed that a decision as to whether Memphis Depay will play on Sunday against ADO Den Haag hasn’t been made yet.

The 21-year-old played a starring role last weekend in PSV’s final home game of the season and was given a standing ovation by the crowd who were saying goodbye toe Depay ahead of his move to Manchester United.

Depay has made it clear he wants to play in what would be his last game for PSV before completing his move but the Dutch side are understandably nervous about playing him.

The pitch at ADO Den Haag is artificial and if Depay was to pick up an injury it would scupper his move to United, much like Ruud van Nistelrooy’s knee problems stopped him from completing his transfer.

From PSV’s perspective, Depay is at his peak value right now and any delay in his move would depreciate how much he is worth. So, although he is keen to play in his last game and give a final farewell to fans, PSV may well play it safe and force him to miss the game to make sure there is nothing that can get in the way of his move to United.
